2024 Miegunyah Creative Fellows Announced

The Russell and Mab Grimwade Miegunyah Fund supports engagement with the collection that Russell and Mab bequeathed for student activities and academic research at the University of Melbourne. We are excited to share our 2024 Miegunyah Creative Fellows:

Writer and novelist Sophie Cunningham AM is bringing her passion for trees, walking and broader environmental issues to an exploration of Russell’s own keen interest in eucalypts, as seen through his art collection, library, archival documents and writings.

Then, in a first, a joint fellowship of artists from Arts Project Australia, are working with the art collection, and particularly the diverse decorative arts gathered by Russell and Mab for their home ‘Miegunyah’. Artists Samantha Ashdown, Michael Camakiaris, Jordan Dymke, Christian Hansen, Monica Lazzari, Aidan Sefo, Mark Smith and Amani Tia have visited our offsite art store and selected works that they are responding to, leading towards an exhibition of their creative outcomes later this year at our sister space Buxton Contemporary.
