Secondary and Tertiary programs - Ian Potter Museum of Art

Learning at Potter

The Potter’s learning programs encompass both tertiary and school programs, creating curriculum-specific connections with the Potter’s exhibitions and permanent collection. The Potter’s reopening in 2025, after an extensive redevelopment by Wood Marsh Architecture, will provide purpose-built learning spaces in the heart of the museum, enhancing and enriching the student experience.

Tertiary Program

Active since 2012, The Potter’s tertiary programs span curricular, co-curricular and research focused learning experiences. Utilising our curated exhibitions and the University Art Collection, our Academic Engagement team collaborate with academic colleagues and student cohorts across the University of Melbourne's faculties to deliver Museum-based opportunities. In 2024, our Academic Engagement offerings will expand in line with the reopening of the museum, including new learning spaces in the heart of the museum.

Schools Program

Reopening in 2025, the Potter’s redesign will feature purpose-built learning spaces in the heart of the museum. Our schools programs will cater to upper-primary and secondary students, offering unique learning experiences closely connected to our changing thematic exhibition program and permanent collections.
