Forum – The aftermath of environmental and human intervention

26 May 2016

In response to artist Susan Norrie’s video work Aftermath (2016) in which she documents the LUSI mud volcano’s decade long eruption in Indonesia, this forum investigated environmental disasters and disaster prevention, management and mitigation.

Susan Norrie was joined by Dr Lisa Palmer, Geography, The University of Melbourne who discussed the challenges of combining customary and modern water governance in post-disaster areas and Associate Professor Mark Quigley, Earth Sciences, The University of Melbourne who discussed how humans are altering seismologic processes.

This forum was convened by Associate Professor Peter Christoff, Geography, The University of Melbourne who researches climate politics and policy.
