Performing Textiles is an exhibition featuring new work by students from the Victorian College of the Arts’ Honours in Fine Arts (Visual Art) program. Following a competitive selection process, ten student artists were chosen to develop new works in response to a curatorial theme exploring the interconnection between textiles and performance in contemporary art.
The exhibition highlights interdisciplinary perspectives and investigates the interwoven roles of fabric, fashion and the body – as both material force and form.
Performing Textiles is a collaboration between the Ian Potter Museum of Art and Faculty of Fine Arts and Music, University of Melbourne.
