‘Design for Rose Window’ 1934

This exquisite watercolour is a design for a stained-glass window by Australian born artist, John Trinick. A contemporary and friend of Napier Waller and Christian Yandell, Trinick completed a number of significant stained-glass commissions in churches and convents throughout England during his forty-year career. Many of the designs for these commissions are now part of the University of Melbourne Art Collection. Trinick’s work was influenced by medieval stain glass, a love of Pre-Raphaelite design and the Arts and Craft movement.
